Bearing cleaning
During the cleaning of the bearing, all shedding, standing water and remaining lubricant should be removed, as well as any other contaminants that would constitute severe bearing wear. According to the size of the bearing to be cleaned or the number of bearings, the cleaning method and cleaning agent used for cleaning the bearing are determined. For small bearings or a few bearings, kerosene, mineral oil or other commercial solvents can be used. For large bearings or a large number of bearings, neutral oil can be used to clean in the cleaning tank. The viscosity of 40% neutral oil is 22cSt (or, 100SUS).
Check bearing appearance and minor repairs
On the inner ring raceway of the removable roller or the surface of the roller, if small peeling or skin cracks are found, generally use a grinder to grind off the metal peeling skin, and polish the edge of the peeling surface. The degree of bearing wear should be checked regularly, and the wear of the bearing can be purchased by measuring the bearing clearance. Inspect and repair chocks as required, or inspect and repair roll necks as required, then refit the bearing with chocks to the roll.

In terms of product smoothness, it has excellent viscosity-temperature, oxidation stability, rust resistance, abrasion resistance, etc. At present, most of the bearing lubricants of domestic aluminum rolling mills use No. 220 medium-load closed gear oil. The lubricant has the functions of reducing wear, taking away the heat generated during conflict, preventing corrosion and rust, etc. Due to the high viscosity, high flash point, high sulfur content and poor annealing cleaning function of this lubricating oil, it is widely used abroad. The WYTOLB220 bearing non-stained lubricating oil of the aluminum wire /bar rolling mill roll of American ESSO Company is selected. The lubricating oil has good anti-wear function, oxidation quiet function, etc., good cleaning and annealing function, and no oil contamination of aluminum rolling products.
Recommended amount of lubricating grease: the filling amount of lubricating grease should be 2/3 or 1/3 of the space between the bearing and the bearing housing, and it should not be excessively smooth. The recommended amount of grease to be added after each grinding of the roll is 1/5 of the initial amount. The make-up period of the lubricating grease is related to the bearing’s structure, speed, temperature and environment, etc. The user can adjust it according to the actual operating environment, so that under reasonable conditions, clean lubricating grease is always kept in the bearing.
